Related Recall of Meat

Even later on Friday night, the Whole Foods supplier decides to recall: Nebraska Beef recalls 1.2 million pounds of beef

OMAHA, Neb. – Nebraska Beef Ltd. is recalling 1.2 million pounds of beef because the products may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

The recall comes a month after the Omaha-based company recalled 5.3 million pounds of meat that has been linked to at least 49 cases of E. coli.

Neither the company’s spokesman nor Department of Agriculture officials immediately responded to calls about the recall after a news release was issued late Friday night.

The second month in a row should indicate that Nebraska Beef has a major problem they are not fixing.

Would love it if the Democrats would stand up and point out that this is an affect of the Republican’s mantra “no regulations.” Vote Republican…you are condoning people getting sick and possibly passing away from e.coli and other various food borne contagions. However, I’m sure that some Dems have their pockets lined food industry moolah and thusly aren’t willing to come forward and do the right thing.

Let’s stop this “war on terror” nonsense and start up with a ‘war on lack of inspections.” (however, I really don’t care for that “war on….” phrase…but people seem to pay attention when you mention “war.”)

I’m fairly certain that The Jungle is in the public domain as it was published more than a century ago. I think Dems should serialize it and start handing out parts under the head, “This Is What Deregulation Means”.

Let people know what the hands off approach has done to people. The South Koreans are rioting over the possible import of US meat because they know it isn’t safe. There are many countries that won’t buy from the US because of our lack of effective regulation.

It’s not a book you read if you are queasy.

The FDA was created by Republicans when they were still concerned with small businesses.

Well…according to this mob family in the White House, many a large business, including Halliburton have claimed “small business status” and received SBA loans.

Apparently the Republican definition of small business is any wild idea by a Bush family member and any corporation not in the Fortune 50.
