Fickle Fay Fades
As I assumed at the 7 PM update, Fay has been downgraded to a tropical depression:
Position: 30.9 N 87.1 W. [10 PM CDT]
Movement: West-Northwest [285°] near 8 mph.
Maximum sustained winds: 35 mph.
Wind Gusts: 45 mph.
Minimum central pressure: 999 mb.
It is 30 miles North-Northeast of Pensacola, Florida, but looking at the regional radar, it would appear that Houston, Texas may get more in the way of “interesting weather” than I will [Sorry, Steve].
The rain bands are arching over the top and fading in Gulf.
This storm is just weird!

Bryan… hmm. I’ve looked at everything I can find… models, forecasts and radar… and as noted briefly in the thread upstream, I’m just not seeing it. The weather is downright boring here at the moment, and I hope it stays that way. What am I missing? (You can answer me here or on one of the other threads… or wait until the weather here vindicates your forecast. 🙂 )
As I said below, when I left the comment at your place there was a huge mass of red on the radar heading South towards Houston, and now all that’s left is a “string of red beads” between Galveston and Houston. The whole system is just fading, and the highest reported local wind today was about 12mph, and it hasn’t been raining as much as misting.
Back to topic: whew. I was about to suggest renaming your site “Fay’s Book.” <grin_duck_run />
The good news was when it headed to the Northwest, instead of the West after it made landfall this morning. Otherwise it would have out over the Gulf and able to strengthen.
This has been a workout, while I’ve been trying to do several other things and waiting for a client to make some design decisions so I can do some paying work.

When you put all of the anxiety into it, having it just quit is rather insulting.
