Waiting For A Storm

cat

So, what do you do when waiting for a storm and it’s three hours between updates [minor at 1 & 7, major at 4 & 10 CDT]? Well, you could actually get some work done and listen to some mood music:

Rain
A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall
Night on Bald Mountain
Riders on the Storm
Who’ll Stop the Rain
Rainy Night in Georgia

Or, just ignore the whole thing…nah, that won’t work.

You forgot Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head.

Even better, considering its opening line, is Erasure’s Rain. (It starts out “What is there to do? Only rain, falling down from the sky.”)

when dogs start falling out of the sky too, then i’ll start worrying. nice collection of mood music though.

I have been actively trying for a very long time to forget that song, Michael.

They don’t have the Wagner pieces I was looking for, as they are probably in excess of the 10 minute limit, and few of the lesser Russians that have fitting pieces.

Actually, Steve Bates got me thinking about it in a comment about Key Largo.

Hahahaha… Yeah! I heard that song sung by Johny Farnam when I was a kid (along with his most forgettable song: Sadie (The Cleaning Lady)) and have been trying to forget them ever since! *sigh* Way to traumatize a 10yo Mom!

I was there! But I had no say in it… Hmmmm. 😐

And you forgot ‘Singing in the rain’ too. 😉 LOL

Those are “happy songs” and I have acquired a “Russian soul”, which is to say, I’m a down person.

Mr. Farnham doesn’t quite make the same level of grandeur as Rolf Harris, but then Mr. Harris didn’t pretend to be serious. That’s 15 seconds I’ll never get back.

Heh… I know. I was just trying to put a damper on your downer! LOL

Russians aren’t *down* really… Just… pessimistic (or some might say, realistic, and with good reason for most). 😉

Soon it’s gonna rain,
I can feel it;
Soon it’s gonna rain,
I can tell…

Forgive me if I don’t provide a link. Search YouTube if you like, but I warn you, all the performances I found are less than Fantastick…

Actually, Slavs are contrarians: if things are going well, they will say a disaster is about to happen; if things are terrible, they will assume they have to get better.

Frankly, if my population was declining though emigration, a low birth rate, and an ever lower life expectancy, and I was living next to China, I wouldn’t be bothering about what the former SSRs were up to. Russia is withering away, and is doing nothing to stop the trend.

I found zip about the song on YouTube. They wanted me to accept Randy Newman’s “I think it’s going to rain” as a substitute.

That’s what I get for going with the actual title of the song from the composer, which is “going to” instead of “gonna”, and the choices are not exactly stellar.

That’s a bummer because Lennie Briscoe [AKA Jerry Orbach – my Mother loves Law & Order] was the star on when it opened, although this isn’t his song in the play.

gotta speak the lingo. 🙂

yeah, you can find some real gems on youtube, but there are still so many gaping holes….

13 Bryan { 08.26.08 at 8:37 pm }

You have to figure out how the people who submit items are going to spell.

I assume that some of the gaps are the result of RIAA having hissy fits.

14 hipparchia { 08.26.08 at 8:49 pm }

you’re probably right about the hissy fits.

if you’re having trouble keeping up with trends in creative spelling, you’re reading too many very serious people and not enough lolcats.

15 Bryan { 08.26.08 at 9:11 pm }

The spelling is more consistent with LoLCats.

i’ve found lolcats to be very therapeutic these days. i can sure see why teachers are reporting getting essays like edipuss rex: ur doin it rong.

To which they can reply: Epic Fail!
