A Bit Of A Drag
A couple more inches of rain, a tornado or two, the frogs are singing, and there’s mold developing on the mildew on the toadstools. Only one more day to go, and then it will be clear for a couple of days.
The beaches are covered with an invasion of the Portuguese man-of-war [stinging jellyfish] and the surf is too choppy for safe swimming. I’m sure the kids on Spring Break are thrilled. There hasn’t been enough sun for a beige, much less a tan. I don’t think pasty white prune skin from the rain was what they had in mind when they decided to head for the beach.
They say that if March comes in like a lion it will go out like a lamb. This year it came and left like a flounder.

i drove out to the beach recently. all the red flags were flying, so the surfers were out, and there was a bit of a break in the weather, so the more intrepid spring breakers were out milling around, but it was a rather anemic turnout.
in other news, the road from pensacola beach to navarre beach is open. finally.
hipparchia´s last blog post..How long does it take for a cat to forget a mildly traumatic kittenhood incident?
Now it’s time to start the pool on how long it will last this time – 3 months, 6 months?
It’s like US-98 at our end of the island. They keep patching it, but they never fix it so it doesn’t get washed away with at 4-foot storm surge. One section of that sucker should be elevated, because the island wants a channel there, whether we want it or not.
News from our ocean front is that the little “teenage” whale finally left the harbor, so the usual dredging can begin.
The ocean doesn’t want a boat harbor there and keeps filling it with sand…whether we want it to or not.
If it weren’t for all of the seawalls my local bayou would be moving North by a few inches every year. The seawalls that prevent it, also prevent the bayou from cleaning itself properly, so now it’s polluted.
Silt is Nature’s way of telling you that you screwed up and guessed wrong.
