Is that a moth?

Friday Cat Blogging

I guess I’ll have to wait.

[Editor: My Mother just found these pictures of Koshka playing on the top of the kitchen door. I always had to check before shutting doors, but I didn’t have to worry about dusting them.]

Friday Ark #112…

We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? We add boarder…

Goodness me…look at that Stretched out Cat Neck. Keira Knightley of the Long Neck would be jealous.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

😀

That shot shows the hint of Abyssinian that she had from her mother – the long neck and large ears. She was a very weird cat, but life wasn’t dull.

We had a cat that played on top of the refrigerator but NEVER on a door!
That is really balance!

Those are great pictures, she must have had some personality to hang out up there.

Srp, she was an amazing cat. I rescued her from the ceiling of a commercial building with her two siblings and hand raised them, as their mom hand been picked up in a “animal welfare” sweep that ignored the fact that she was obviously nursing. Her brothers got adopted but she adopted me. She could leap to the top of the door from the floor, and routinely leapt from my desk to the top shelf in the closet, a distance of over 8 feet.

Rugo, she epitomized the curiosity that cats are noted for, and had the athleticism to satisfy it.

Wow she obvioulsy had great balance even for a cat. and what an appropriate name for a cat too. Somehow Sobaka or Khlop would have been silly! I had a cat called Kiska, nothigng to do with the Aleutian Island of the same name

Well, Jams, I hope your Kiska wasn’t as cold and rocky as the original. I used to fly off Shemya, which isn’t that far away on the chain. Actually calling her a “female cat”, even in Russian, was a bit of a cop out.

My goodness….a door leaper & sitter. I’ve grown used to two overweight, lazy felines that have a hard time jumping several feet and I’ve forgotten how agile cats can be.

She was one off, Andante, and I was the only one whoever saw it because she hid whenever anyone else came over. My Mother only saw her in the carrier, as when she dropped by Koshka would evaporate.

It’s so amazing that she would figure that out–I guess to her it was probably just a wierd kind of tree to climb, but it’s truly wonderous to me. Natural acrobat for sure. Beautiful!

What a marvelous cat Koshka was; I know you must miss her. I’ve known one astonishing leaper in all my years around cats; they are a real rarity. Thanks for the pictures.

I’m over at Stella’s at the moment. She’s out of town for one more day, and I’m looking after Tabitha and Samantha… and, incidentally, the fish (a beautiful blue betta) that usually resides in Stella’s office at work. The fishbowl is atop the refrigerator, and Stella and I are depending very much on the fact that neither Samantha nor Tabitha can leap anywhere nearly that far.

Hang on a minute….you’re supposed to dust the tops of doors?

14 Bryan { 11.10.06 at 10:17 pm }

Jen, that is an exterior door, and 1½ inches wide. She also would walk the top of my folding screen, which was half as thick, but she never sat down on it. She knew exactly how much of a jump she needed to reach her target at a dead stop. She jumped from the side and essentially sat down, rather that catching her front paws and pulling herself up.

That was a problem with Koshka, Steve, everything had to be in a cabinet, and you had to remember to close the doors. Brightly colored fish are a real attraction for cats. Good luck, and locate a replacement in a pet store [just in case].

Only if your grandmother is Irish or you were in the military, Andante, as far as I know.

A kitty door percher. THAT takes real talent!

16 oldwhitelady { 11.11.06 at 10:08 pm }

Oh-oh. I have a moth chasing cat, too. When I come home, sometimes, I find a certain painting askew or even fallen on the floor. Cute kittycat!

17 Bryan { 11.11.06 at 10:52 pm }

She was amazing to watch when she was on the hunt, Ellroon. There was no place she could go.

Ah, yes, OWL, the added height made possible by leaping to a picture frame, and then launching again.
