Seems like it’s been a tough year for the kitties.
It has been a year of generational change and a terrible flea problem that hasn’t abated even after I succumbed and went with the chemical warfare option, which I hate to do. We haven’t had a hard freeze in several years, so the fleas keep getting worse.
The feral population is definitely in decline, as there is only one fertile female, Ms Underhouse, left. The other two unspayed females have never had kittens, so I assume they can’t.
He was a good one, Jams. Earlier in the week he was challenged by a young tom, and scared that pushy juvenile so bad, that the youngster stunned himself by running at full-bore into the side of my neighbor’s house. The challenger was trying to see if Blaze was gaining on him, instead of looking where he going.
Aww, I’m sorry to hear about Blaze getting hit. He sure was a beauty. Now, who’s going to keep the juveniles in check?
OWL, it has always been a danger for the toms, because their range always extends beyond the block I live on.
The question of a new alpha tom is going to be noisy, as outsiders will now be free to enter the area. The juveniles are not large or skilled enough to defend the territory, so it will be an outsider, probably an abandoned cat.
