"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

ROTFL!
(Sort of…)
One of those random thoughts that zing by at intervals.
This went over my head, or I don’t get it.
For years people complained that no one in government did what people wanted them to do, that tax money was wasted on projects that no one wanted or needed. It was a constant campaign theme by both parties that they were going to do what “the people” wanted.
These days the government is bugging every type of communication available: they are listening to everything we say.
Well they’re listening to us but they still aren’t doing what we’re telling them.
