Is Your DNS Safe?
I posted earlier about the problem with Domain Name Servers [DNS] and the need to make some patches. EBW at Wampum has a post with a link to a site that allows you to check to see if yours was upgraded.
Mine [Embarq] was, his [TimeWarner/Roadrunner] apparently wasn’t.
Since this happened I have noticed that it isn’t as difficult to find this place, as it has been for a couple of months. Apparently a few people accidentally fixed some other problems and unkinked some “tubes” when they applied their patches.

The servers I maintain run Ubuntu, after an apt-get update && apt-get upgrade they’re all good.
My server runs Debian and is good. A quick check shows that they released the patch on July 7. I would have installed it the same day.

At this point it looks like the bigger the ISP the less likely it is to be patched. The big telcos and cable companies are slow in responding. That may be a result of their network structure or a lack of people to actually patch the code.
Two months is almost instantaneous in corporate IT shops, but they have great documentation of what they were supposed to be doing [as opposed to what they actually did].
