As someone who has sailed, and had the dubious honor of being towed back into the harbour by the Coast Guard when stranded out in the channel without wind nor motor, I admire and appreciate the efforts, the dedication (and the good sense of humour) of the Coast Guard.
I have good friends who are in the Coast Guard and they leave their base on the barrier island in weather I wouldn’t attempt to help fools that don’t understand the difference between the inland lakes and the Gulf of Mexico.
They stay busy down here.
