Bast, it’s hot, when does it cool off?

[Editor: Property demonstrates what you have to do when you don’t have sweat glands and it’s hot and humid.]

Excuse me, but I pay for my storage and bandwidth, so don’t expect any movies unless I win the Lottery or a relative I don’t know about leaves me an inheritance.

With the heat and humidity what is a cat do? It good that it also has a big cute factor.

Hipparchia, my editing skills aren’t up to layering a photo like that.

They really have been limp, and I have air conditioning which does bring the temperature down to computer usable levels, Jams.

“so don’t expect any movies” – Bryan

Bryan, put ’em on YouTube. The account is free, and as far as I can tell, the bandwidth is theirs, not ours. The two videos I’ve ever put up… taken with my digital camera, and regrettably crudely edited… were on YouTube. The .avi file straight from your camera is all you need, though you may want to clip the ends using whatever simple tool came preinstalled on your computer. (Even Windows Movie Maker works for that simple purpose.) YouTube’s software does the conversion (albeit s…l…o…w…l…y) from your .avi. Like hipparchia, I’d love to see one of the Wednesday Morning, 3 AM chase scenes!

I, on the other hand, prefer to sleep, so if I get a call from a client, I can actually respond in a meaningful manner.

Cats actually do have sweat glands – on the pads of their feet. When my kitties get hot, the bottoms of their feets get damp and they flop over and wave their feet in the air to cool off a little. One thing that helps is that our domestic house cat is virtually identical, genetically, to the North African wild cat, which is a desert cat, and thus runs at a higher temperature than most critters so doesn’t need to cool down as much. They still overheat if engaged in any kind of strenuous activity though, thus the limpness.

Now that you mention the desert ancestry the sweat glands paucity makes sense.

Nice Fang/Cotton contrast at your place, ‘Tux.

How strange… I get into that postion all the time when it’s hot….

Are you indicating you can fit in a faux milk crate, Ellroon?

A cute little sable cuddle you have there, Hipparchia.

i’m just over-run with adorable here.

i can’t wait to see what they look like in real life. so far i’ve only seen them by flashlight and camera flash [except for the one wanderer]. there’s at least one tailless one in this group too [dad cat = black manx].

15 Bryan { 08.11.07 at 12:33 pm }

I suspected that from your description of the first group and the prevalence of black among Manx cats.

Good gracious, but she’s a limber kitty….and so darned cute!! Her coloring is beautiful.

If I tried to sleep like that, I wouldn’t be able to get up from my nap. I noticed the comment by Badtux, about cats having sweat glands in their feet. Interesting. I didn’t know that, but I did notice my cats have hot feet, sometimes.

The peds are about the only thing not covered in fur, so a good place to dump the heat.
