Fasten Your Seat Belts

You may as well put on the neck brace and helmet, just to be safe.

Tristero at Hullabaloo calls it Dissociation. At Crooks and Liars they refer to it as moving the goal posts. In the run-up to an attack on Iran we are seeing the same pattern of changing rationales for the war that occurred prior to the invasion of Iraq.

Unable to convince people of the need to attack Iran’s nuclear program because the Security Council won’t go along this time, now we have the MAC-V MNF-I pumping out a constant stream of propaganda about Iran aiding the insurgents. All of the “evidence” they have produced has been anecdotal, obviously faked, or too ambiguous to be confirmation of anything.

The international community no longer accepts American intelligence as valid, which makes the cooperation and collaboration necessary in the real battle against international terrorists impossible. Not only are other countries no longer willing to accept the US word for anything; they are no longer sharing their best intelligence with the US for fear it will be revealed for political reasons in the US. Trust is the lifeblood of intelligence, and no one trusts us anymore. Just another disaster on the long list of failures by the Hedgemony.

Hold tight as the Cheneymobile charges through another demolition derby with the truth and facts to reach his goal of blowing up Iran to destroy the current oil-based world economic system. On the positive side, the shut down of a major portion of the world’s factories and the death of the workforce thrown into poverty might reduce global climate change, depending on the trade-off of the decrease in industrial pollutants verses the release from decomposing corpses.

We need regime change in America.

We need someone to actually enforce the Constitution.

bush is the environmental president y’know. global warming has gotten away from us and nuclear winter is our only hope of counter-acting it.

dissociation? moving the goal posts? i suppose c&l has to vary their verbiage on occasion, but can’t we just call it out-and-out lying?

“Trust is the lifeblood of intelligence, and no one trusts us anymore.”

Of all their egregious screw-ups, in my opinion this is the worst and most dangerous to the country.

Okay, maybe tied with at least a dozen others, but still outrageous. Where there is no trust between nations, there is no diplomacy, no fair trade, no justice.

Hipparchia, apparently Keith Olbermann has a copyright on “lying,” because he’s the only one who actually says it aloud.

We can’t do good in the world anymore, Andante, because people assume if the US government shows any interest in an area, we will be bombing it shortly. Multinational are already leaving the US and the trend will get worse.

… people assume if the US government shows any interest in an area, we will be bombing it shortly.

now why would they think that?

Exactly so, Hipparchia, exactly so.

Thank goodness for that! I was appalled at how the admin threw around Iraq and 911, then invaded. A quick war. I figure we couldn’t “mission accomplished” near as fast, with Iran, since they are healthy and thriving. Also, why do we want to war with them?

OWL, as near as I can tell because the Likud party in Israel thinks Iran is a threat. They haven’t attacked anyone in a couple of hundred years, so why anyone thinks they would start now is beyond my paygrade.
