A Riverbend Post
Riverbend has a post from Damascus up today talking about life in exile and the problems of being a refugee –Bloggers Without Borders….
One of the things that struck me is that the Hedgemony is so concerned with its own legacy it doesn’t seem to notice that it is improving Saddam Hussein’s image among the Iraqi people. It is hard to believe that Americans could screw anything up so badly that a brutal monster like Saddam would start to look good to his victims.

Thank you so much for the link; I’ve been checking Riverbend daily, hoping to hear she & her family were alive and safe. Didn’t check yesterday, though, as things were hectic around here.
The line that struck me – “E. tried to convince the aunt to faint so it would speed the process up for the family, but she just gave us a withering look and stood straighter.”
God bless the woman; I hope she is able to retain that pride & dignity. And may some sort of eternal damnation follow those who knowingly put her in that situation.
Iraq is losing those it can least afford to the lose – the people with the knowledge and character to rebuild a better Iraq, leaving the country to the whackos.
