Our Taxes Pay For This
Laura Rozen of War and Piece has found something that is a brilliant example on so many levels of why these people need to be replaced before they injure themselves.
You have to read this article by Jeff Stein, CQ National Security Editor: FBI Hoped to Follow Falafel Trail to Iranian Terrorists Here.
I realize many people wouldn’t know this, but if you were an FBI agent tracking Iranian terrorists I really would expect you to know that you can’t order falafel in a Persian restaurant, because Iranians don’t eat them. Falafel are very popular in Israel and its neighboring countries, but they are an Arabic dish, and Iranians aren’t Arabs. This plan might uncover a cabal of Sephardic Jews plotting to undermine the use of Yiddish, or Lebanese Christians wondering if the Druze are really friends, but the menus at the take places won’t be printed in Farsi.
This is the kind of crap that the “Total Information Overload” program encourages.
Oh, falafel are Arabic hushpuppies made with ground chickpeas instead of corn meal, and the word is plural.

hunh. so that guy following me around nyc, as i ate my way from one falfel stand to the next, wasn’t just some mugger/stalker/pervert?
He could have had a Federal badge as well as being a Republican.
now that is a scary thought.
The thing that sc\ares me is that they are adding thousands of people a month to their rapidly growing “Watch List” are they putting people on it for such misguided reasons as liking middle-eastern food? Desperation to fulfill Cheney’s fear that we are infiltrated by terrorists is making these people do really stupid stuff.
Next time I go through a salad bar I’ll look to see if anyone suspiciously FBI-ish or Republican-ish is watching. And I’ll spit on the chickpeas, just in case.
We have a “French” bakery that is actually owned by Sephardic Jews from Algeria that has a deli were you can get falafel, and they were sold at a small Lebanese deli next to the video store were I rented foreign films in San Diego.
It would be really annoying to be on a list for that, when there are so many other things that could put me on the list if someone hadn’t noticed what I did in the military.
When you go around looking for enemies you are apt to make as many as you find. Why should people trust a government that doesn’t trust them?
