Friday Cat Blogging
Mikey
Bugger off!
[Editor: Mikey hates everyone, but me especially. I give him food and he hisses and spits the entire time. He goes to the feeding area and takes his customary spot, but when I’m putting down the food in front of him, as always, he hisses at me.]

Friday Ark #165…
We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? Visit all the …
I once taught a kid who was like that. Mikey hated everything and everybody. I counted it one of the few successes of my teaching career when Mikey intervened on behalf of a kid he hated because, he said quietly of that other kid (who was softly crying because he hadn’t earned a privilege), “I know how he feels.”
Mikey is dead now, of course. He was selling black tar on the streets by the time he was twelve. Doing drive-bys by age fifteen. You know the story. So it goes. So it goes. And nobody dares to care, or do a damned thing for all the Mikeys out there. Yeah, I’m in a really good mood today, aren’t I?
Is there a cat on the planet that does not have a quirk? I’ve never seen a hostile cat when food is in the offing though!
Thank you for being on the front lines, Badtux. I’m sorry your Mikey didn’t make it, but you did touch his life. A mark of a good teacher.
And as for THIS Mikey, it says a lot about you, Bryan, that you’d continue to feed such a grumpy puss. His life must have been very rough, poor kitty.
That look alone could burn a hole in your shirt.
Mikey is a feral tom, so his is a life filled with dominance fights and trips across some seven lane roads in the area to patrol his “domain.” I suspect that someone has tried to trap him and that soured him on humanity, or he could have been born contrary and never changed.
I got them after high school, Badtux, and you would think that they would understand a little more about how things work, but you can still see people with great promise and ability throw it away that late in the process. But to have made it that far means that someone cared and did their job to get them to college.
Mikey hates everyone….hmmm, where did I hear something similar before? Cute kitty. He looks almost like a tortoiseshell. However, I realize torties are most often female.
He is actually a dark gray and black classic tabby with white feet and chest markings.
