NCLB A Bust
It’s nice to know the Hedgemony is consistent: U.S. Students Lose Ground On Reading Tests – American Fourth Graders Score The Same As 2001, Outperformed By 10 Other Nations
(AP) U.S. fourth-graders have lost ground in reading ability compared with kids around the world, according to results of a global reading test.
Test results released Wednesday showed U.S. students, who took the test last year, scored about the same as they did in 2001, the last time the test was given, despite an increased emphasis on reading under the No Child Left Behind law.
All NCLB has proven is that you can teach children how to take a test, but that only improves their performance on that test. For those who don’t know, there aren’t many jobs for “test takers.”

Well…My Pet Goat is really “hard” reading for certain folks.
I wish I could write a full-tilt post on the stupidities of NCLB, but I really like my job.
I’m in an “A+” school district and talk to these “A+” graduates. Some of them even attempt to make change at local stores. It’s pathetic.
My maternal grandfather finished the sixth grade, which was all that was offered in the area in which his family had their farm. He read all his life and kept baseball statistics in his head, computing batting averages on the fly during a game. He learned how to read and read what he wanted to know.
So far, we are spending money and not getting much more than test scores as a return.
Time for Dear Leader to land on an aircraft carrier and strut under a “Mission Accomplished!” sign with his mighty, mighty codpiece leading the way again! Because, of course, it really IS “mission accomplished”. The stupidification of America is the mission, didnja know?!

If his brother didn’t need a job we wouldn’t have been subjected to this monstrosity. Everything the Hedgemony touches puddles into corruption.
