Friday Cat Blogging

Now? Not yet.

[Editor: Half of the “Pump House gang” {they were raised in the shed for the irrigation pump} hiding in the palmettos to jump on the food I’m distributing. They are still small enough that the others will let them eat first. The stupid flash went off and the autofocus grabbed the leaves, but you work with what you have.]

Not to worry, Bryan; that’s a cool pic anyway. This is one of those rare occasions when the forced focus (the “we know better than you do exactly what you wanted to focus on” behavior) conveys the kittens’ activity probably better than a sharp focus on the kittens themselves.

Fortunately they are leery of me, as kittens will climb your legs to get to food. They still, occasionally, come zipping out too soon, suddenly realize they are on my shoe, and zip back into the foliage.

They are starting to learn stalking behavior, but, while they have they have learned how to crouch properly, they have a tendency to vibrate while crouching, which destroys the reason for doing it.

They resemble nothing so much as fuzzy firecrackers of nervous energy ready to explode for any or no reason. A falling leaf might be attacked or fled as they try to sort out the fight/flight reflex.

They aren’t as friendly as that little beauty you found.
