Breaking News: Jindal Seen In Louisiana

Since Louisiana law makes it illegal for Piyush to do any funding raising for his not running for President campaign, the Times-Picayune reports that he has been seen in the state where he is supposedly the governor: Jindal’s top priorities: saving chicken plant and defeating unemployment expansion

BATON ROUGE – Gov. Bobby Jindal said this morning that his top legislative priorities for the coming week are passing a bill that lets money from an economic-development fund be used to support a North Louisiana chicken plant, and defeating legislation that would clear the way for Louisiana to accept $98 million in new federal financing for unemployment benefits.

He is following the mantra of the Southern GOP that giving state tax dollars to corporations is good and necessary, but even Federal money given to individuals is bad and wasteful.

As Jack at The Grumpy Forester noted, Piyush is one of the GOP leaders chosen to “rebuild the Party”. I’m not sure how his stated legislative priorities are going to help, unless there is some untapped vein of poultry processing plant owners that are voting Democratic. I feel reasonably certain that undocumented workers are not allowed to vote.

…swear to God, if the leading legislative priorities that are focusing the mind of our good friend Piyush are chicken ranch reform and denying unemployment benefits, I will forevermore rest my case about his not being a deep thinker, even by Republican standards…

No wonder he spends all of his time not running for president at fund-raising events everywhere else in the country. Every moment he spends in whatever the heck represents the Louisiana Governor’s mansion is another moment demonstrating that he isn’t even close to being ready for Prime Time…

This is all he’s got. He’s claiming the bribe to the chicken processor is to save jobs, but the processors shut these plants all the time to move to cheaper labor, and to pressure farmers to lower the price for the chickens.

There has been a lot of consolidation in the industry plants are disappearing all over the South with states trying to outbid each other to keep them. They almost never pay taxes to state and local governments, and they use a lot of undocumented workers.

This is the state of the Republican Party. This is one of their leading lights.

He can’t seem to rebuild New Orleans…I don’t see how he can “rebuild” the Rethuglican Party.

Hey, he managed to find Baton Rouge, and now you want him to locate The Big Easy … pretty pushy. Piyush doesn’t rush into things.

Ah, but his non-campaign is (ahem) poultry in motion!

Well, if politics doesn’t work out, he can always be a chicken plucker, or something closely related.

They are coming up with $50 million for the chicken plant. They are cutting everything in sight, and $50 million to “save a few minimum wage jobs”.

The mind boggles. Chicken pluckers indeed.
