Be True To Your School?
So, while Badtux is watching the local gang of police officers beating up students at the University of California Berkeley, in Pennsylvania the police are watching students riot because a football coach was fired.
When you knock down light poles, flip and then bash a media van, throw rocks and bottles at the police, it is a riot. The police say they will look at the videos and identify the criminals for later arrest.
Protesting the destruction of the economy without violence is grounds for getting beaten with nightsticks, but wholesale destruction is to be expected when sports are involved.
I wonder how those students are going to feel about the coach when the ‘Paterno tax’ is added to their bills. That’s the extra money that Pennsylvania State University is going to need to pay the lawsuits of every child victimized after the University was made aware of the problem and did nothing about it.
Here’s some advice for college administrators – If you want to protect the institution, report crime. Not reporting crime makes you an accessory after the fact and opens the institution up to very expensive settlements.

If those jocks had an sense they would be venting their anger at the perpetrator and those, including Paterno, who should have shopped him but didn’t.
All these protestors have done is show themselves to be a bunch of ignorant pricks
These days it seems priests and sports fans think they can get away with anything. Priests, fans, and bad cops…
What was with those cops in Berkeley? I watched the video about three times, looking in vain for any threatening motions made by the group of students. Maybe the cops had foolishly gotten themselves backed into a wall, but it looks as if one cop just took his nightstick and with no provocation started poking a young woman in the stomach, and suddenly they all did.
When will police finally realize that there’s always a videocam running?
These cops look as if they are too arrogant to give a damn if they are photographed or not
What’s gonna happen to them for beating down a few students? Probably just a commendation and a high-five.
There is probably a police agency somewhere in California that isn’t totally militarized and corrupt, but I can’t think of one off-hand.
Badtux is right, nothing is going to happen to them, so why should they care.
