Random Thoughts

Everyone talks about “optimists think the glass is half full, while pessimists think the glass is half empty”. What about the other options, like “the glass is too big” or “the bartender shorted me” ?

My day was rudely interrupted by Property having a cat frenzy. She got into the drawer were I keep the shopping bags and got her head through one of the handle holes. She then proceeded at maximum speed around the house with the bag around her neck and hitting her back. This continued for three orbits until the bag snagged on something and she tore loose.

She is currently on top of the refrigerator, on alert for another vicious bag attack. Excise is spooked as he was bowled over while she was orbiting.

Update: This is from today. As a psychic gift anticipating LOLcats is not much ….

Bwahah! Yeah, TMF did that once, and managed to bowl over Mencken too. But Mencken merely laid into him with tooth and claw rather than getting spooked — which caused TMF to orbit even *faster* until he managed to snag the bag on something and tore loose.

TMF’s spot, however, is under my bed. I didn’t see him for a few hours — he was hiding from those evil bags :).

Oh, she disappeared into ‘catspace’ for several hours, but when she came out, she seized the ‘high ground’ and when into a defensive posture.

Um… reminds me of one of my husband’s stories… Crazy Siamese kitty acting fey on the bed. Paper shopping bag open at the edge of the bed, open end facing cat. Husband gently scrabbles at the bottom of the bag, cat hurtles into it, bag sails off bed and hits floor. Cat jumps out of bag, on to bed, husband returns bag to edge of bed, scrabbles at the end of it, cat hurtles into it… repeated continuously to everyone’s satisfaction.

But Siamese cats are crazy anyway…

Paranoids know that “they” stole half of *my* drink,

And, accirding to a popular T-shirt here, “Engineers observe that the glass was over-designed by a factor of two.”

Best,
Jim

Both Koshka and Kaylee have gone rounds with the Evil Plastic Bags, but they don’t need a reason to frenzy other than atmospheric disturbances or the depredations of invisible imps.

I have two shot glasses. The one advertising the State of North Carolina is noticeably, demonstrably bigger. Draw your own conclusions.

Lily is the cat-racer in this household. Her favorite moment is the crack o’ dawn: Stella has just gotten up to prepare for work, and Lily is soooo excited! So of course Lily is the one who occasionally gets caught in bags or other objects. Long ago, Stella got both cats snap-off collars just in case they get caught when no human is around. It helps with many things, but it doesn’t do much to free them from those evil bag handles.

Ellroon is the paper ‘bagman’ in these parts. If I’m annoyed with him, I let him get in a right the bag. Has never figured out how to get out, even though he could shred the bag as easily as he shreds door molding. He’s too big to jump out, and has figured out that if he stretches the bag will tip over on its own.

And, Jim, I just added the chemists’ view. I think physicists would hold that the state is indeterminate.

Well, Aня, all cats are subject to fits, but they are generally not as spectacular as Property’s performance, although Ringo comes close when she starts chasing her tail … especially after she catches and chomps it.

Yes, Steve, cats are always so helpful when you try to get dressed, especially since it involves opening drawers filled with interesting ‘cat toys’.

“especially since it involves opening drawers filled with interesting ‘cat toys’.”

If the cat fits, wear it!

That was really bad, Steve …
