Bugman Bugging Out?
CNN is reporting that Tom DeLay is dropping his re-election bid after winning the Republican primary for his seat.
If true, I suspect that he is expecting some bad news on the legal front.
Update: It’s apparently true, but plans need to be completed.
The stake has to be oak, but is mistletoe in the tree good or bad? Is an oak struck by lightning more effective?
You soak the oak in a marinade of Holy water, crushed garlic and lemon juice from “cock’s crow” to “cock’s crow” on a day with a full moon, but would adding habañeros be gauche?
So many details to attend to, and so few sources of reliable information.

I see he’s changing his residence to Northern Virginia, where my sister & her family live.
She’ll be delighted, I’m sure. She has had a persistent ant problem for years.
I understand that if you cover yourself in honey and lay down on fire ant beds, not only do the ants die of diabetes, but your arthritis goes away. Tom should try it.
Steve Bates will be thrilled to get rid of him, although it sounds like he is leaving early to give the Republican governor a chance to appoint a successor for the rest of his term.
“The Times” is confirming the story also!
Yes! There is some justice to be had.

I don’t know; most people here in Texas would actually derive pleasure from peppers, and I don’t want DeLay to enjoy this at all. I thought DDT would be appropriate, and I’ll bet some of DeLay’s criminal buddies know where they can find some. Good riddance to the (expletive deleted; I’ve saved the genuine rudeness for my own site).
I’ve been dancing since MSNBC broke the story last night.
This has to be linked to the plea deal with Rudy win the Abramoff case. Rudy is admitting to operating a criminal enterprise while still working in DeLay’s office. DeLay is already under indictment in Texas, and trying to run a campaign facing state and Federal indictments would require too much diddling with the Diebold machines to be reasonable.
I expect that his defense fund will see major contributions, because it is always about cash with DeLay.
I expect that his defense fund will see major contributions – Bryan
IIRC, he has about $1.2 million in his campaign fund at the moment, and he can legally use that for his defense. I wonder how his contributors feel about that now.
The bottom line is that he can’t do anything for them at this point, so, unless they really believe in him, they threw their money into the waiting accounts receivable of trial lawyers.
That most trial lawyers have moved to the Blue side since being attacked by the Republicans is icing on the cake.
Every dollar wasted on Termite Tom is a loss for the Republican Party.
Juanita is turning cartwheels, as well she should. Check out the picture on the page.
I don’t know if the GOP can come up with a suitably reptilian candidate to replace Tom, but I’m sure they’ll come close.
I should have remembered Juanita. I wait for her new project to take off to add it to the blogroll.
I loved the picture, and know she won’t rub it in or anything.
Joe Scarborough did the same kind of thing down here, got elected then resigned, so we had to pay for a special election.
I met Juanita, a.k.a. Susan, when she spoke to a local Democratic club a couple of years ago. It was clear from her speech and the Q&A afterward that she is a splendid human being, and deserves her long-awaited chance to rejoice as surely as DeLay deserves what is happening to him.
