Now The Lake Is Burning

I talked about the fire in the Okefenokee Swamp, and now about 2000 acres is on fire in what was the bed of Lake Okeechobee.

We really need some rain.

You’re welcome to a bit of ours. Not that we’re overwhelmed, but there are thunderstorms just about every afternoon, and some of them fill the bayous pretty thoroughly. In fact, there’s one approaching right now… that’s the main reason I have everything on UPS’s.

Just please don’t consider renaming your blog anything like CatFireLake…

Rename it, I’m trying to deal with upgrade issues.

You have been getting a lot of rain, but we haven’t seen any, the pattern has changed.

rain? what’s that? i believe i’ve heard the old folks speak of this.

something slightly dampish fell out of the sky did fall on us today, but in our language we have no words for this phenomenon.

Did you check for birds in the area? They can sometimes fool you.

We are sorely pressed for rain as well here in Georgia. This has been the driest spring recorded since 1930 (did someone mention dust bowl?). Possibility tomorrow and again next week.

And now we in Houston are not getting as much as last week, or as predicted. Those afternoon thunderstorms that filled the bayous have trailed off to a 20 percent POP, none of it falling here, unfortunately. It was nice while it lasted. Like all of you, I’m hoping for more.

It looks like South Florida may get something from a formation in the Caribbean, but not much in the patterns for us.

whatever it was, it obviously unhinged me grammatically. ack.
