Man Of The Year?
Time magazine has decided not to decide because they aren’t the “decider” and declared ‘Net users the “Man of the Year.”
As August Pollak so eloquently puts it: Lamer than anything that has ever been deemed lame.
Atrios wonders why Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was under consideration?
Simple answer: Because Time doesn’t understand that the President of Iran doesn’t quite have the political power of the Prince of Wales.
Update: I bought the album – from TBogg: We’re so lame, we probably think this story is about us

No, the reason Ahmadinejahd was considered is that TIME’s criteria includes the “person who affected the world the most for better or WORSE” – and the Pres of Iran would clearly qualify. It’s just most folks think of the *better* part and expect someone GOOD, not the person who contributes to the worst of it all.
Karen, the guy can’t even decide if women can attend soccer matches. In the Iranian government the President has no real power. He runs around and shoots his mouth off, but he can’t do anything. He is a figurehead who has to talk to foreigners because the people actually in control don’t want to.
If the US were to decide to talk to Iran, we wouldn’t be talking to him, because he can’t do anything.
He has no importance, and his name on the Times short list shows that they don’t understand. Nothing he says should be given any more prominence than things O’Reilly says – neither one makes policy for their countries.
Time keeps on slippin’… slippin’… slippin’…
I’m thinking more of an albatross than an eagle.
