Some people associate me with cats?
This is an actual gift I received this year. I have to say I wasn’t expecting it.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Actually, I think it’s wicked cute….
Why don’t you submit the photo to Cute Overload?
Just kidding. 😉
The “drummer boy” [tuxedo cat second from the left] was beyond kitsch [or catsch]. They heard the song in China but hadn’t read the book.
You…cats? Never would have suspected.
Your manger scene is so over the top it qualifies as outstanding.
Happy Holidays!
Thanks, and stay safe, CG. Remember that plastic sheets and duct tape are handy for building a temporary shelter. If you are going to buy a tarp, don’t get blue or they will think they have already visited you.
At least it’s better than the proverbial dog in the manger…
CG, please stay out of harm’s way. I just checked out the photo on your site; it looks as if you are ready for whatever comes along. Nonetheless, stay safe.
Wow (or rawther MEOW) that’s quite the manger – but watchee outeee… I understand their are folks swiping the “baby jesus” out of folks yards…Though you might be Safe with this one!
They probably sell one for dogs, Steve.
That, Karen, is one of the reasons almost no one puts out crèche scenes any more.
Yeah, I know, I’m supremely late in commenting on this.
I must say I am now ROYALLY pissed I didn’t get a set. *pouts*
The comments don’t close for 30 days, LK, and I’m always happy to have comments. As for the set, I couldn’t even begin to tell you where you might get one because I’m certain that it came from a catalog that arrived at some point last year and was ordered by phone. It may have been ordered in June. My Mother is definitely not a last minute shopper.
A quick Google reveals:
Collections, Etc. which offers the set you have.
Big Sky Carvers offers sets with cats… and dogs, bears, moose and barnyard critters to boot. The different animals are sold in “incomplete” sets, so one could potentially have a scene with an assortment of critters. I like the cat angels who are perched on a scratching post.
😆
I’m thinking of locating a couple of small white mice to substitute for sheep, and build some kind of shelter that can be used to store the set.
The Big Sky stuff is more realistic, but pricey.
How about a cat box?
I think we are entering theologically dangerous territory, but litter would make good “sand”.
