HR 3962 – The Sausage …

should be recalled and fed the Congress all 2000 pages.

Lambert at Corrente notes in Nancy’s band-aid the preliminary analysis of the bill by letsgetitdone at FDL. He’s right, the main reason that nothing really happens until 2013 is because none of the people in charge want to run on what is going to happen.

Jack at the Grumpy Forester notes in Reform And My Half A Loaf that it’s probably better than nothing, but not much for his son with diabetes. Jack also coins the term “Beaten Dog Democrat” to described the current leadership in Congress.

George at skippy’s notes that the Democrats offer him nothing after all his support. There is no help for his child with autism in this mess.

Digby notes that the Democrats are throwing women under the bus in catering to the Blue Dogs. This bill may extend the reach of the Hyde amendment even to private insurance if there are any subsidies.

Let’s be clear: the Republicans and Blue Dogs can’t stop a bill unless they are aided and abetted by the Beaten Dog Democrats. If they aren’t going to pass a bill that will actually do more good than harm, there is no point in continuing to waste time on this mess.

If the Democrats won’t help the people who voted for them, there isn’t much point in voting for them again. Pick your favorite third party and give them your support, because the top two parties don’t care if you live or die.

…thanks for the link, Bryan, and I will more than happily grant the broadest possible fair use of the term “Beaten Dog Democrats”, because I have been thinking for a while now that it is an apt description of a party that seems to have lost any idea of what it actually means to be the party in power. They are still simpering and waffling as if it were 2003 and they were clinging desperately to some tattered shreds of relevance, instead of being in charge of everything. Most of the credit should actually go to Steve Bates, because he was the one who pulled it all together in that earlier comment thread. …

As far as further support for the Democrats is concerned, I’ve pretty much decided to make radical changes in my voting patterns if the Beaten Dogs and Blue Dogs conspire to produce something that makes “half measures” look good in comparison, and I may just walk away – block any satellite channel that even mentions politics; burn my voter registration card (not sure what good that would do, though, since we have total vote-by-mail out here in Orygun’s socialist/communist/fascist Cascadistan); start a sports blog and obsess over quarterback ratings and ERA’s – if the all too real possibility of this whole thing falling completely apart manifests itself ….

If the Beaten Dogs and the Republicans are the only choices we are going to be offered, there really isn’t much point in voting in other than local elections. There are still DINOs and RINOs who are actually trying to do something for their constituents at the local and state level.

It would seem that as soon as they enter the DC Dimension they forget who they work for.

I just saw that.

You know, between the Medicare Advantage privatization scheme, and stupid ideas like that, there are a lot of ways of making health care reform cheaper.

“Pick your favorite third party and give them your support…

I did that once, in 1968. For my trouble, I got Nixon.

If you look at his record, Nixon was more progressive in his first term than Obama seems to be.

Bryan, I have no pity for the Obama-ites who drank the Kool Aid. I blame them for making me have no other choice than to vote for someone who I KNEW was lying. I could never turn PUMA, and Gawd Forbid I ever vote for anything Sarah Palin was involved with. Not vote ? Next time, that may be the only choice.

p.s. there was no third party person I thought was qualified, either….

I understand your feelings, and now you can see they don’t seem interested in helping your son, either. It is a very frustrating period in politics. We need some viable third parties, but the Dems and Reps will do everything they can to prevent that from happening.
