Friday Cat Blogging
Chilly Reception
Who me?
[Editor: This is Tip’s brother on a rare foray into the family area. He is almost never outside, as he adopted a neighbor. He actually has a tiny white tip on his tail, but at the time of the picture he was a bit concerned about the attention the other cats were beginning to show towards him.

Lol! Those eyes! Poor little kitty… run away!

He is pretty freaked out because he doesn’t smell right, especially since he lives with a dog. Actually he was a sick kitten and that’s why he got taken indoors. He had a cold at about 4 weeks, which is often fatal for a kitten because the mother cat will not allow a sick kitten near the rest of the litter.
Those eyeballs!

He certainly does look alarmed but then if he has an indoor billet he must be a stranger to the others

Actually he hasn’t reached full panic mode at this point. When a cat is in full panic they open their pupils to the maximum limit to gather all of the information possible on their environment, including possible escape routes. If you see a cat with almost no visible iris be very careful, because it is about to explode into action. A vet tech who handles ferals pointed that out as the surest way of knowing when it’s relatively safe to reach into a cage.
That’s a cute kitty, and he looks concerned, for sure. I’ve noticed my Princess Interesting about cats’ eyes. Grey Feather sometimes has very small irises. I should watch her and see why.

If it isn’t very dark, it usually means the cat is stressed by something. The annoying things is that it might be something that they can hear or smell, but we can’t.
