Changes

Lots of things going on while I was out playing lumberjack all day.

Santorum finally had his revelation that he was a loser, and if he had stayed in, he would have been rejected by Pennsylvania again. He hasn’t been out of office long enough for people to forget was a loser he was as a Senator. He may have finally understood that none of the people running for the Republicans have much of a chance to win this year, and if the candidates for President are a motley crew, potential running mates are even more pathetic.

Then you have the George Zimmerman meltdown. His defense attorneys quit, and he’s talking to Sean Hannity. He apparently also tried to talk to the special prosecutor, who refused to talk to him without his attorneys present, as is the normal procedure.

Zimmerman better hope he isn’t charged, because if he is, his chance of making bail having dropped to zero. When his attorneys said they have been out of contact with him, they awarded him the ‘flight risk’ card, and may have nudged him towards the ‘danger to community’ card by speculating on reasons for his actions.

All the guy had to do was to lay low and stay out of trouble and let his attorneys deal with everything. He is acting like he thinks he can exert control on the situation, and he can’t. He apparently doesn’t understand the standard warning ‘that anything you say may be used against you in court’ which is why attorneys tell you to shut up and don’t talk to anyone but them.

And don’t forget the scientific study that proves that people like Rick Santorum who obsess about gay sex all the time are, well… well what do you call a person who obsesses about gay sex all the time, anyhow? Hint: The word ain’t “heterosexual” ;).

As for the Zimmerman thing, I can just shake my head. I can see why his lawyers quit — he seems pretty much the client from hell — but this is the first time I’ve ever heard of lawyers calling a friggin press conference to quit, and basically dissing their (former) client in public. It raises some interesting questions of legal ethics and the client-attorney relationship (even if you quit being their attorney there’s still some residual responsibilities you maintain due to the client-attorney relationship that previously existed), and potentially poisons the client-attorney relationship between Zimmerman and whoever his next attorney will be (whether private or court-appointed). All in all, it makes me think these guys really, really, REALLY don’t like Zimmerman, and want him to see the inside of a jail cell for a good long time.

Badtux, I’ve often wondered about those ministers who rant hysterically about what gays are doing….

Bryan, I think Monty Python had a song for the job you were doing…. maybe the various cats came and sang the chorus?

I didn’t need a scientific study to figure that one out, Badtux. I have gay friends who have been pointing out it for years. A few of them have noted that the rants often include things you wouldn’t know about unless you had done them.

As for the ethical side, I think the attorneys were beginning to worry about their position if there is a charge and they can’t produce him, as well as the fact that he has blown up their carefully constructed case as to why it was self-defense, and there was no racism. All Zimmerman had to do was stay out of sight and keep his mouth shut [on advice of counsel] and the prosecution would have a tough row to hoe.

Actually, given the ‘help’ I had from the neighbors, I was thinking of Monty Python, or the Marx Brothers, Ellroon. I had to keep reminding them that trees were about to fall and go boom, usually where they decided to move to for a ‘better view’. I really appreciated their help, but it was dicey a couple of times.

The cats have better sense. They leave when any loud machine is turned on.
