Lots Of Things Happen Today

Obviously the most important things at my place are the cats’ birthdays. Property and Excise were definitely born on April 15th, and I use it to mark the changes for the other cats just to keep things easy. Property and Income are 5, Ringo is 7, and Sox is 14.

As today is also the day of the month for their flea medicine, none of them are talking to me at the moment.

If it wasn’t on a Sunday it would be Tax Day, but Tax Day has shifted to April 17th as the 16th is Emancipation Day in the District of Columbia, and the transportation system will be on a holiday schedule. Federal offices will be open, but the IRS doesn’t want to deal with excuses, so they extended the deadline.

He is a grand old man, who really belongs in a leather wingback chair in front of a fireplace with a brandy and cigar on a small table beside it, as he grumbles.

i wondered why the 17th – didn’t know about emancipation day.

my first batch were probably born right around the same time as your tax cats, but since i didn’t discover their existence until a few weeks later, and didn’t entice them into my house until a few more weeks after that, i mostly think of them, and the subsequent batch, all as the great cat explosion of summer 2007.

The first ‘party’ of the year is around Valentine’s Day, which puts birth on Tax Day. The next ‘party’ is at the end of May, which puts birth at the end of July.

Emancipation Day is the date the slaves were freed in DC by the Federal government paying for their freedom. It is a DC only event, and it does affect the city as there are parades and such.
