The official US Navy site on the Pearl Harbor attack.
There will a memorial service aboard NAS Pensacola that normally features local survivors of the attack.
They have their own license plates:
"It's better to be six feet apart right now than six feet under."
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer
"Blognito ergo sum!"
"Caedite eos! Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius."
"Das war ein Vorspiel nur, dort wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man auch am Ende Menschen."
"Все счастливые семьи похожи друг на друга, каждая несчастливая семья несчастлива по-своему."
"Кто что ни говори, а подобные происшествия бывают на свете, - редко, но бывают."
"A person who has a cat by the tail knows a whole lot more about cats than someone who has just read about them."
Mark Twain
"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
"The presence of those seeking the truth is infinitely to be preferred to the presence of those who think they've found it."

There can’t be too many of those plates issued. There are very few survivors left alive. My late father was one of them though he never talked about it. A very significant day in the history of this country.
I just updated with the Pensacola News Journal link about today’s local survivors, and there are a dozen in the local chapter, most in their late 80’s, and fewer every year.
Thank you for offering the correct wording of the FDR quotation… few people do.
There is another quotation, one from PNAC’s “Rebuilding America’s Defenses” (2000), that says everything we need to know about our political opponents:
In other words, to neocons, the very concept of Pearl Harbor is not that of an horrific event, but of a political opportunity. They should be ashamed of themselves, but of course they’re not.
I am grateful to our fathers for having won World War II for us. And I am especially grateful that GeeDubya Bush was not president in 1941… I believe the outcome would have been much worse if he had been.
Well, FDR didn’t say “go shopping”, and without giving them billions he told the auto companies to build tanks, trucks, and aircraft. He pulled the country together and told them to make sacrifices, not hoard their wealth. Everyone was required to help, because we were all in it together.
