I can hang with the US in the first stage, but when they are eliminated where do I go? Which grandparent do I annoy?
Frankly, I think my grandmothers [England & the Netherlands] are poised for more success.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

I’m heading into this Cup with open options after the US….
Germany does look strong but I love the Brazilian style of play…
I already know what my biggest disapointment will be: I won’t have time to watch all the games…heck, I’ve barely dented 2000, let alone 2004…so I’m not going to record them all this year. Sigh…
Brazil is always strong and entertaining. The Netherlands has a very strong side this year. The Ivory Coast could surprise everyone, they won the Africa Cup. England and Germany both have injury issues. The Swiss are not very impressive.
US needs more international players. Good defense, but there is a minimum of offense. Their conditioning might be the wild card, with late game strength, but they need experience outside of their current zone.
I think you should go absolutely neutral in order not to insult any relative… and root for Mexico ; )
I had a friend/client when I was in San Diego who went hunting in Mexico every November. He collected all the candy that didn’t get handed out at Halloween [because of the paranoia] and a couple of soccer balls every year to hand out in the village where he stayed. He said the kids could easily go through two soccer balls a year because that’s what they had for entertainment [these were good, leather balls].
With that kind of training schedule the Mexicans should play well.
