From CNN: Democrats vow to block pay raises until minimum wage increased.

Harry Reid says he’ll block the Congressional pay raise until the minimum wage is increased. He reminded people that he knows the rules of the Senate and since there hasn’t been anything important happening lately, expect a problem for the “cat killer”.

Ohh…more Political *HARD BALL* from Reid! Expect a lot of GOP whining about them obstructionist DEMs on all their *MAJOR* lesgislative efforts – Like Flag Burning! The Reeeeeaaaaaaaaly crucial stuff for the functioning of our Country.

Give ’em Hell Harry!

Karen, the flag-burning amendment failed, by one vote. I’m saddened that 14 (?) Dems voted for it. The good news is that someone very high in the government is burning through his base-rousing issues at an astonishing rate. The bad news is that this means his October surprise will have to be something spectacular (read: violent).

For all Reid’s faults… e.g., he voted for the flag-burning amendment… I certainly enjoy watching him put Frist to shame. And this is the perfect issue on which to depict the GOP as the bunch of compassionless rich folk they truly are. Give ’em hell, Harry.

There are Republicans who don’t like the pay increase at a time of huge deficits, so the move has traction outside the Democratic core. I don’t think the minimum wage will be increased, but Harry can at least highlight the hypocrisy.

The change they are seeking will still be behind the Florida minimum wage which was passed by initiative last year, so Martinez [R-FL] voting against it in the Senate is fairly stupid and an act of “rubber stamping”, or he may not know that Florida has a separate minimum wage law.
