If politicians stopped wrapping themselves in the flag, people might stop thinking that the flag had become so tattered, tainted, and ill-used that it needed to be purified by burning.

I wonder if wrapping yourself in the flag could be considered desecration.
Actually, it is a violation of the Flag law, as is signing it with a marker, or wearing on the back of a boating jacket like GWH Bush did. It’s not about the flag; it’s about free speech.
