I go back to Usenet newsgroups and bulletin boards, so I’m older than slood, and solid-state computing devices, Stonehenge for example, go back millennia, so I’m in the Devonian range.

Just checked, and my first post was December 14, 2004 at the current incarnation of my blog. So my 6th blogversary is coming up? Hmm….

I still miss blogging at LM sometimes. But it was very hectic and intense then, I don’t miss that.

The dividing lines are the Presidential election, to my way of thinking. The Founders before the 2000 election, the paleos before the 2004 election.
Actually, it is something I do while waiting for other things to finish or when I need to divert myself while debugging.
One post per day plus one music video per day doesn’t take much of my time, Kryten. Especially when there’s such a surplus of material to post about. One quick glance at the news, maybe scan a couple of blogs, and it’s either post or stroke out as my blood pressure hits the roof.
Bryan, I actually started blogging in 1998. But that first “blog” was created via a set of m4 macros operating upon post templates that put headers and menu wrappers around contents that were updated by hand using /bin/vi (and clearly no comments, m4 is static, duh), the results then rsync’ed to the server, and that was updated nowhere near as often as what I do today. Then I moved to a PHP-based blog platform in mid-2002, but was driven to insanity by the comment spammers and took that down. As far as political blogging goes I started that in December 2003 with the upcoming election in mind, but that blog is rated I for Insane and I don’t tell people where to find it :). (Think Jesus’s General on steroids, that’s how over the top it was).
My blogging since the election of 2004, on the other hand, has mostly been about maintaining sanity in insane times. Which continue. Duh.

I hear that! I used to be very active and could easily multitask and juggle several things at once. Those days are definitely gone. 🙂
I ended up back to square one around mid this year (you may have noticed my commenting dropped off noticeably for awhile, it’s really only very recently that I’ve been able to even post anything that required any level of thought or research.
I made a mistake mid last year thinking I could cope with two projects and taking on a Cirt 4 level course (Cirt4 is the level below Diploma, Cirt 5, DipEd in this case). By November, I was really done, but I pushed through until Dec and the end of the course. Unfortunately, the organisation that had sponsored me to do the course let me down badly in the end and because of that, I failed a unit and didn’t get my Cirt. I can redo that unit and get it, but I was too disappointed and exhausted to bother. Maybe I will next year. I was also having problems with the projects (external causes mainly), and walked away from one. The problems continued until May with the other main project, and my client (friend) was stressing out… and I just burned out and shut down. Then over the last couple months, I’ve been plagued with hardware & OS problems… *sigh* This is definitely NOT my year! 🙂 Still… I’m picking myself up slowly, and have finally found some decent help for my health problems. Amazing how getting some answers can help. 😉 As for any projects… I really don’t know when I’ll be ready to tackle one again. The last one has left a very bad impression on me, and my confidence (not something I’ve ever admitted before, even to myself! I am usually the one who’s confident almost to the point f arrogance in my abilities and knowledge!) 😉 I am sure there are those who would say I go past that limit. But luckily, I don’t care what they think! LMAO 😉 😈
I ran a couple of my own forums during the early part of the 00’s, and was a member (even Admin/Mod) of several others! Thinking about it today, I have NO idea how I managed it! 😆 I guess, I just d what I gotta do. I think a lot of it is part of the early Military/Intel training that’s helping me now. If I hadn’t been through all that training and conditioning 30 years ago, even though it almost got me killed a few times back then, I really think (ironically) I’d be dead now. Funny how things work out! 😀
One thing I have noticed the past couple weeks, is that my memory seems to be getting better. For awhile there, I was really struggling, even to remember basic things (like taking my med’s). I’ve been using some old memory techniques I learned all those years ago. 🙂
You know Bryan, I think you understand the reason why things in the USA the past decade (and beyond) really annoy me. 🙂 Thinking about it, I’ve concluded that if I hadn’t been in Cambodia (and other places) and hadn’t worked intel for awhile… I probably really wouldn’t care much. I certainly wouldn’t understand why what is happening is so wrong, and so bad for everyone! I’ve seen the results… I’ve seen the bodies.
Yeah, I care because… I have no choice really. *shrug* 🙂 Somebody has to! 😉 You have an extra reason, you and your family live there. But the reality is, the USA has the potential to bring the whole Would crashing down. And the World was very stupid to allow that to happen. 😉 But… It’s not the first time. I wish more people would learn and understand history! Maybe these things wouldn’t keep happening! 😆 yeah… Of course, most Governments have a vested interest in ensuring that the great unwashed masses don’t learn too much, especially history! Why, people might actually start questioning things! The horror! 😈

Paleo or not, I could not have survived the Bush era if I hadn’t found you and others who showed me I was not alone. Recoiling from the odd docility of the media to the Bush agenda and tired of shouting at the tv, I went online in search of real news and found you guys. It kept me sane.
Yes, in a way this is group therapy, especially if you live in South Fundistan like I do.
