"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

That’s hysterical…thank you for the much needed and appreciated laugh.
Wow, Ringo is really growing into a beauty. Now you just have to work on making her mind beautiful….
My… such a face!
Friday Ark #106…
We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? You can find o…
Ah… The Cat Who Topped Them All! Now if Ringo starts knocking individual books onto the floor, I’d worry if I were you.
Rita Mae Brown’s Mrs. Murphy? Not a bad character, but there’s no, ahem, mystery about Mrs. Murphy, as there is about Koko.
I once actually met Shirley Rousseau Murphy, who is a Mrs. Murphy, but she writes the Joe Grey series of cat mysteries. Not too bad.
And finally, some very old doggerel for the occasion:
Not Deep, Though
Consider Lilian Jackson Braun:
It’s nice to see an author that you
Like enjoying great renown…
Although her work’s a bunch of Cat Who.
– SB the YDD
Some background on the shot:
– her eyes aren’t that green – it’s the flash effect;
– she’s sitting 6-feet up as the result of a leap from the floor;
– the leap was the result of Sox getting ready to put a hurt on her for some indignity in the living room;
– she is giving Sox a stare because she knows he can’t get to her.
After I took the shot I noticed that row had The Cat Who … books on it and the titles were readable. The Mrs. Murphy titles are on the shelf below with the beginning of the Discworld books.
CG, we have moved into Kurt Vonnegut territory with Franz Kafka editing.
Andante, at the moment she is functioning on hormones, not brain cells, but I have to wait her out before she can go to the vet.
LK, she is being evil and enjoying it.
Steve, clearing the entire shelf is more her style.
Beautiful cat. Almost looks like a statue. I love how the green in the eys looks like it is glowing. Beautiful.
Ringo is GORGEOUS. But my Sam could, if he wanted to do so, kick Ringo’s butt since he’s a 25# Maine Coon. That being said, Sam is too NICE a cat to treat a guest that way and he honestly doesn’t need to do it. His self-confidence is legendary (especially in his own mind).
His little brother Tim would annoy an intruding cat to death! Tim is a bluepoint Siamese who truly believes that he is “all of that”! And man oh man can he TALK!
Oleblue, Ringo appreciates all compliments and demands them frequently.
Gayle, the roommate she is avoiding, Sox, comes in at about 16 pounds which is almost all muscle. That is why he isn’t much of a climber. Ringo is a Korat, a Thai breed, and will weigh 8 pounds, at most, when fully mature. Her fictional friend, Koko, is a Siamese, and thus an ethnic kinsman. Fortunately Korats chirp and mumble rather than voicing the “Siamese screech”.
Again an wonderful cat who looks like sje would not be scared for a second by my Mimi’s war face!
Jams, Korats take two years to grow up, so Ringo still acts like a fearless kitten most of the time, but Mimi scares me. As I said, if she lowered her ears I would be out of there.
