Stupid Human Tricks

My production will definitely suffer and commenting will be reduced as I have managed to sprain a finger on my right hand. I wish I could say it was due to wrestling an alligator or evicting a bear from a pre-school, but I have no idea how I did it.

The necessity of keeping the hand on ice, limits my ability to type, but, at least I’m mobile, unlike poor Elayne, who sprained an ankle and lives on an upper floor.

This too will pass.

Bryan,

I hope you caught Jon Stewart the other night, Tues. or Wed. I think it was. He had a close-up of Foley’s hands hovering over a keyboard — or, actually, one hand — and tossed off some funny remark about learning to type messages with one hand.

So now you and Mark Foley have something in common, eh?

Thanks, John, that really made me feel better.

Ugh. At least my sprained/broken ankle didn’t hamper my typing. My job(s) and caring for my mother take care of the hampering.

You should get together with Mr. Andante – he had a run-in with a lawn mower, and is currently sporting a broken middle finger on his left hand. He is supposed to keep it elevated as much as possible.

I keep telling myself it IS elevation, and not a “middle-fingered salute”.

Ouch! Bryan, having had my share of hand problems over the span of both of my careers, I can certainly sympathize with you. It doesn’t make it easier that you don’t know what you did to cause it. I wish I had some magic advice to give, but you’re already doing what I know to do: cool it, and take it easy. Good luck. Do NOT reply to these comments!

Thanks for the kind words, Bryan! I’m venturing down the two flights of stairs tomorrow morning, hoping the bum foot will take it. With any luck I’ll see a doctor sometime in the afternoon…

Andante, he can tell people he’s practicing to be “Stonewall” Jackson in a re-enactment. It was one of the general’s peculiarities to ride around with one arm up. He had an odd reason for it based on his health. In some ways breaks are better than sprains, as they tend to be less painful and heal faster.

Steve, it’s some better after two days of ice.

Take care, Elayne, and don’t push it.

Considering you have 10 digits to type with, and you’ve always had 8 extra anyway, you’ve still got 7 left with which to choose from…,

Okay, okay. I’ll go back to my corner where all bad Rooks reside….
