Party Discipline

First off, get your mind out of the gutter; this is not that kind of on-line opinion magazine.

They are holding another caucus in a state that allows anyone to become a Democrat for a day and select the party’s candidate for President, this time in Nevada. I assume they’ll just put the names on slot wheels and pull the handle.

Seeing the Forest has a link to the political compass of the major candidates in the Presidential primaries – not very comforting for liberals.

On a happy note for Democratic candidates, Culture Ghost writes that Ron Paul is the only Republican who understands the problem the economy is in at the moment. Rather depressing for the Red State crowd that the candidate they consider only slightly saner than Alan Keyes, is the only one who knows what is going on around him. I’d like to recommend the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory to the Republican Party as a way of reducing these sorts of embarrassment, because I’m a liberal and everyone knows that we are helpful [and shrill].

Of course, the Democrats are still running down the field to kick the football being held by the media. The media takes quotes out of context and publishes them, and the campaigns react as if the quotes are real.

Melissa encapsulates the problem in the post, In Which One Headline Manages to Perfectly Epitomize the Stupidity of the Media. She is even more liberal than I am, so you get extra shrill.

One of the quickest ways I can imagine of starting a war about sexism and racism is to broadcast music targeted at teenagers. For those who have forgotten: the primary role of teenagers in American society is to annoy adults. They want to push buttons and invoke a reaction. Adults are supposed to react in a rational fashion, not throw around charges based on rumor, innuendo, and media manipulation.

As long as I’m discussing music I would like to suggest a few people and groups for the Clinton and Obama campaigns: Nelson, Sean Lennon, Dino Desi & Billy, Arlo Guthrie, and/or Wilson Phillips.

This is based on the realization that while both campaigns are talking about change, there are a remarkable number of scions of politicians involved in both. I would note that Richard Cromwell was not exactly the leader his father was, and I think we can all appreciate the difference between the Shrubbery and his dad. I’m seeing a lot of “the same old faces” in both campaigns and that does not signify change to me.

There was a saying around the cop shop: Some people get 20 years of experience on one shift, others don’t get a day’s experience in 20 years. Time in grade or in service do not determine your experience level unless you have actually done something.

If you have nothing better to do you could look at the post that Phoenix Woman has up at the Pyro Poodle Puddle, The Polls You Won’t Hear Much About, it’s sort of interesting in a shrill sort of way, and the latest numbers from the Silver State have a virtual three-way tie, but John Edwards isn’t a serious candidate, just ask the media.

i remember finding that political compass of the candidates back when i was trying to convince some ronpaulbot that dennis kucinich was more libertarian then ron paul ever was.

what this country needs is a kucinich/gravel administration. that would be a change.

I’m not voting for any Republicans, no matter what the official Initial is after their name. Oh, Mike Gravel, well Mike is a little bit erratic. John McKay has mentioned Mike years in elected office in Alaska, and I remember most of the stories from 4 decades in the past.

As far as I’m concerned, Hillary is just Bill except not willing to go eyeball-to-eyeball with the likes of Newt Gingrich. And caving to Big Pharma.

Obama? I’d love to have him for a next door neighbor, and that’s about all I know about him.

Edwards of course – not a serious candidate.

North Carolina’s primary is “open” to unaffiliated voters. Up until 2004 when I switched to Islamofascistleftistcommie, I always exited the booth having voted for Pat Buchanan or Alan Keyes or whichever Republican whacko seemed least sane.

If nothing else, it threw a middle finger to the media if My Man got one more extra vote than pundits predicted.

Ah, yes, the years of protest voting because nothing you did could change the “good ol’ boy” culture of Southern politics.

It is truly annoying that Obama and Clinton are ready, willing, and able to beat up on each other, but won’t put up any kind of resistance to the other side.

Obama made a strong speech against the war when he was an Illinois state senator, but he meekly voted to support everything the Shrubbery wants now that his voice and vote can make a difference in the US Senate.

Clinton tries to kick that ball every time the Repubs tee it up.

That’s how Kerry lost in 2004 – he wouldn’t fight, he wouldn’t get angry and go to town on liars.

Hah!! You just described the spineless Dem’s (with a few notable exceptions, Nancy NOT being one of them!) Watching the Dem’s is like watching a classic University lecture on “Battered Housewife Syndrome” (Or Battered Spouse Syndrome I believe it is now).

A big BAH!!! to the lot of them!

There are things that you do not triangulate or compromise on because they are the core of your beliefs. If everything is on the table, nothing has any value.

You know… if you ran for office, I’d become an American citizen just so I could vote for you!;) 😀 Hell… I think half the World might! LOL

*sigh* How come you, I and a whole lot of people *out here* can see that, but most of those *in there* can’t?

Apparently they don’t think they can win if they have any core values. This is a virus spread by the Beltway crowd, especially the DLC, this is also the main reason that Democrats are considered weak on national defense, because they won’t even defend themselves.
