Friday Cat Blogging
Together Again
Burn something!
[Editor: I’m using this shot from November, because today they are under a wool blanket and Sox is the only blob that can be readily identified. Korats and korat mixes are single coated and don’t have the outerwear for these temperatures. I have also lost the free use of my right hand, thanks to Ringo, but a butterfly bandage closed the wound.]

Ouch! Sorry to hear about the hand. Thatt is one of the occasional downsides of cohabitation with otherwise wonderful creatures. I hope your hand heals quickly.
My condolences to Cat Daddy & Dr. Squieaky. R.I.P., Tuffy.
The loss was a tough thing, as CDDS lost an older cat earlier in the year.
Ringo is a bit of a slasher when she gets excited and I made an unwise move to dislodge her.
Friday Ark #172…
We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? Visit all the …
They make a magnificent looking tribe, Bryan
I suddenly have the urge to nap.
Yeah…..NAP!
I wish I could hibernate until the temperatures rise to about 70 degrees.
“Sudden moves” are to be discouraged. That certainly and especially includes ‘sudden moves’ from the animal’s point of view. They can appear wide awake and aware of you….but if it’s a warm bed – watch out.
Here’s hoping your right hand recuperates quickly and no ‘cat scratch fever’ ensues.
Merely a clan, Jams, Hipparchia has the tribe.
I would like to have space enough to nap without worrying who might be where. Dot is hibernating, as is her wont when it gets cold. She does keep the bed warm, and, thus, provides a very useful purpose.
The major wound is in a very unfortunate place on my hand, as there is a lot of flexing which was keeping the wound open, and the bandage is making the flexing impossible.
Fortunately I mastered “hunt-and-peck” in my early years, but it is really annoying.
Oooh, hibernation! Wish I could, it’s spitting rain outside with a 20mph wind gusting to 45mph. So it’s off to work I go, can’t miss those all-important meetings, y’know :-}.

It is looking like buran [a snow hurricane] conditions in the Sierras. I’m ready for a warming trend with the wind shift.
Yeah, National Weather Service has issued a blizzard alert for the Sierras. I’m getting that weather before it hits the Sierras. Folks in the high desert are looking at it a bit nervously too, they’re not fond of re-enactments of the Donner Party so I suspect the Saline hot springs party is over for next month (a few years ago everybody got trapped in the Saline Valley for almost a month by one blizzard after another, they survived but it was not fun and so now folks don’t joke about blizzards there).
From my typing above, one would think I was the one with the slashed hand. Or maybe Stella’s backspace key resists more than mine; I don’t know. In any case, I know how annoying it can be to have a hand wound; it interferes with everything. I hope it heals soon.
Whatever Dot’s wont, it’s Dot’s will that you’re struggling with!
When I headed back to Florida from California, I had to postpone the trip for a day because of the snow and wind on I-8. It can get very nasty in those mountains.
I don’t mess with Dot when she’s in a mood. She really can display an lot of “attitude” when she gets annoyed. Poor Sox, with a 50% weight advantage, he gets beat up when he pushes things one step too far.
curmudgeon cat refers to them as the occupying force, when he deigns to notice them.
Curmudgeon is large enough to have the license to ignore them. I assume your dog still thinks they are puppies to play with.
curmudgeon cat also has the loudest voice and the largest vocabulary, both of which he uses to good effect for those few times when mere presence isn’t enough. the dog still gets a big kick out of joining in the cat fits when they break out, but he’s beginning to agree with cc on the rest of it.
They can be tiring and I’m only dealing with a half dozen.
That’s a wonderful picture! It’s so calm and happy looking. You have some beautiful kitties, Bryan. I’m sorry to hear about your hand. Kitties can be wicked with those claws.
They are actually just having a truce to share body heat, and even under those circumstances are not exact a close knit community.
As for the wound, at least it as a slash and not a puncture, so it will heal cleanly without getting infected.
